J’ai décidé d’écrire ces quelques lignes, car je viens de tomber sur une vidéo sur les réseaux sociaux qui m’a profondément attristée. Ce n’est pas la première fois que je vois de telles images, mais à chaque fois, le même sentiment d’indignation m’envahit. À Chemin Petit Rivière au Lamentin en Martinique, le décor est désolant : des meubles, de l’électroménager, du métal, du plastique… bref tout ce qui ne devrait jamais finir dans la nature y est abandonné…

Pourtant, nos actions irresponsables menacent cet équilibre fragile. On ne le répètera jamais assez : les déchets sauvages polluent nos sols et nos eaux, nuisent à la faune et à la flore et mettent en danger notre santé !!!

Le plastique jeté dans la nature ne disparait jamais complètement. Il se fragmente en petits morceaux de plastique, comme des confettis, qui s’infiltrent partout : dans la terre, dans l’eau, même dans le ventre des animaux ! Ces petits morceaux s’appellent des microplastiques, et ils sont très dangereux pour la santé des animaux et des humains. Par exemple les sacs plastiques jetés par terre. Ces sacs, qui mettent des centaines d’années à se décomposer, vont se transformer en microplastiques, un danger invisible pour la nature et pour nous.
Les animaux marins sont les premières victimes. Les tortues marines, par exemple, confondent les sacs en plastique avec des méduses, leur nourriture préférée. Elles les mangent et s’étouffent, ou leur estomac se bloque et elles ne peuvent plus digérer.
Et ce n’est pas tout ! Les canettes, les bouteilles, les morceaux de métal jetés dans la rivière… tous ces déchets vont polluer l’eau, tuer les poissons et les autres animaux qui y vivent, et rendre l’eau impropre à la baignade (même si on ne le voit pas et on ne le sait pas).
Les voitures abandonnées dans les champs ou les forêts vont rouiller, polluer la terre, détruire la végétation et tuer ou faire fuir les animaux qui vivent dans ces endroits.

Jeter ses ordures dans des lieux appropriés : Un geste simple pour des îles propres et durables

Un geste simple peut faire toute la différence : jeter ses ordures dans des poubelles ou des conteneurs prévus à cet effet. Cela peut sembler évident, mais l’incivisme de certains individus entache notre île et met en péril notre environnement. Voici quelques actions concrètes que nous pouvons entreprendre au quotidien :

L’éducation : Une clé essentielle

Instiller le respect de la nature et de l’environnement dès le plus jeune âge est crucial pour garantir un avenir durable à notre planète. En tant que parents, nous avons la responsabilité d’inculquer à nos enfants les valeurs et les comportements qui leur permettront de devenir des citoyens responsables et engagés.

J’ai toujours fait de la sensibilisation à l’environnement une priorité pour mes enfants. Par exemple, je leur interdisais d’emporter du sable des plages, de sortir les étoiles de mer de l’eau, de ramasser ou de jouer avec les œufs sur les plages, et de jeter leurs déchets n’importe où. Je leur expliquais que toucher les tortues pouvait les rendre malades ou même les tuer, car leur carapace est très sensible. Quant aux étoiles de mer, les sortir de l’eau, les pauvres, c’est les priver d’oxygène et donc les asphyxier.

Dans cette optique, j’ai souhaité aller plus loin en partageant ces valeurs avec un public plus large. C’est pourquoi j’ai écrit deux ouvrages destinés aux enfants, afin de leur transmettre, de façon ludique et accessible, l’importance de protéger notre environnement.
